Evacuation and getting home

Coverage page · All questions

Evacuation is the benefit senior travelers ask about most, and the word that matters most in this plan's version of it is “lifetime.”

How much medical evacuation cover is included?

Up to US$100,000 over your lifetime, for emergency transport to the nearest adequately equipped hospital.

What does “lifetime” mean in practice?

The cap is not per trip and not per plan. It is a single total across your life as a SafetyWing member. If you use part of it on one trip, only the remainder is left for every trip after that.

Is search and rescue covered?

No. SafetyWing states that search and rescue is not covered.

Once I reach a hospital, how do I get home?

SafetyWing covers a one-way economy ticket back to your home country, up to US$5,000, following an evacuation.

What if I have to be evacuated because of unrest where I am staying?

SafetyWing's comparison page lists evacuation from local unrest at US$10,000, also a lifetime limit.
